2. The Islamic Caliphate from Africa to Asia: Understanding to Better Respond / Le Caliphat islamique de l’Afrique à l’Asie: comprendre pour mieux agir. So far, we have one confirmed speaker: Ferry de Kerckhove and hoping to get a second speaker.
Bio: Ferry de Kerckhove entered the Canadian Foreign Service in 1973. He served as Canada’s High Commissioner to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia and finally, Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt. Ferry was also the personal representative of the Prime Minister for la Francophonie. He has a B.Soc. Sc. Honours in Economics, an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Ottawa and pursued Ph.D. Studies at Laval University in Québec City. He has a B.Soc. Sc. Honours in Economics, an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Ottawa and pursued Ph.D. Studies at Laval University in Québec City.

Ferry de Kerckhove s’est joint au Service extérieur canadien en 1973. Il a occupé les postes de haut-commissaire du Canada auprès de la République islamique du Pakistan et d’ambassadeur en Indonésie puis en Égypte. Ferry a également exercé les fonctions de représentant personnel du premier ministre pour la Francophonie. Titulaire d’un baccalauréat en sciences sociales avec spécialisation en économie et d’une maîtrise en sciences politiques de l’Université d’Ottawa, il a effectué des études de doctorat à l’Université Laval à Québec.
