ASG is pleased to convey its members to a special meeting with a delegation of country parliamentarians from Kenya. During the week of June 2nd, the International Republican Institute, a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to advancing democracy worldwide, will host a delegation of Kenyan County Assembly members in Ottawa with the intent to learn about the Canadian approach to and experience with the budgetary impacts of devolution processes, inclusive and responsive policy development, and the development of effective sub-national government associations.
Since election in 2013, county assemblies have been at the forefront of implementing devolution in Kenya and this delegation has a unique view of the devolution process as members of a new body with a wide mandate. The delegation will include the Speaker of the Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly, who is also the Secretary General of the County Assemblies Forum and two members of the Elgeyo Marakwet County Assembly.
