“I wanted to share some good news with you, I just got back from my home city of Winnipeg and wanted to let you know that I’ve won the 2018 IDEA Canada Nyota Award, also fun fact: the word “Nyota” is a Swahili word meaning “Star” and this award is given to a young Immigrant-Canadian who has made an outstanding contribution or achievement in Canada whether through academics, arts and culture, sports, and/or community and volunteer activities. I was nominated by city of Winnipeg and wanted to just share some photos with you too. Also our keynote speaker that night was Mr. Stedman Graham – Oprah’s partner.”
